Installation

You can connect to the NETGEAR Nighthawk router’s Wi-Fi networks or use a wired Ethernet connection. If you set up your laptop or desktop to use a static IP address, change the settings so that it uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). You can set up the NETGEAR Nighthawk R6700 router by one of the following ways:

Wired connection
 

  1. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable. Make sure that the router’s power LED is lit.
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable to an Ethernet port on the computer. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable on the router.
  3. Connect your computer to the local area network and a message will display on the computer screen to notify that an Ethernet cable is connected.

Wi-Fi connection
 

  1. Make sure the router’s power LED is lit. On your device find and select the Wi-Fi network.
  2. The Wi-Fi network name is always mentioned on the router’s label.
  3. You need to join the Wi-Fi network and enter the Wi-Fi Password which is also mentioned on the router’s label. This will automatically connect your device to the Wi-Fi network.

To enable downstream QoS
 

  1. Launch an Internet browser from a laptop, desktop or mobile device that is connected to the internet.
  2. Enter the website i.e. routerlogiinnet.com. A login window will open.
  3. Type the router username and password. The BASIC Home screen will display.
  4. Select ADVANCED and click QoS Setup.
  5. Select the Downstream QoS tab. The Downstream QoS page displays. Select Enable Downstream QoS option.
  6. Select the Streaming Database Auto Upgrade checkbox. The NETGEAR router automatically checks for updates for the streaming database and downloads and installs them. The NETGEAR router will assign a high priority to video streaming from the Internet traffic.

How can I update my NETGEAR router firmware?

  3. Select ADVANCED and then click Administration.
